Thurston County Insurance Coverage Appeal Is Successful
January 3, 2005. GMT was appointed Special Counsel to Thurston County
for purposes of prosecuting an insurance coverage appeal regarding
defense and coverage determinations by the Washington Counties Risk
Pool under the Pool's joint self-insurance program. The dispute involved
the number of deductibles applicable to two discrimination lawsuits
filed against the County. The Executive Committee of the Risk Pool
held a hearing in December 2004 (as an administrative exhaustion requirement
prior to formal coverage litigation) to consider the appeal.
The Executive Committee has ruled in favor of Thurston County, thus
ending the dispute. Jim Murray and Christie Snyder were involved in
the representation of Thurston County.
